Last night was Luther’s Variety Show – it was such a fun time. A lot of money was raised for the darling sons of Tony Fair.
I got to sing my parody to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” If video becomes available, I’ll post it, but for now, here’s the lyrics. I hope this is the start to a Weird Al worthy career!
Variety show is tonight
And we aren’t going outside in the dark
We see the moonlight
And love and reverence both enter our hearts
Nobody screams
This place is filled with really upright Lutherans
You start to squirm
As acts are laid out up upon the stage
What if they’re terrible?
Cause this is Luther!
Variety Night
And no one’s going to save you
From the acts up here tonight
This is Luther
Luther at night
You’re thankful for your life when you’re on Luther Campus tonight!
Our people sing songs
And perform playful acts to make you smile
You hope they’re all good
that you’re not tortured watching all the while
Listen to me
Don’t yawn and check your watch and pray I’m done soon!
Parody style
Should make you think and laugh and make you groan
Tickle your funny bone
Cause this is LUTHER.
Luther at night.
And no one ever told you
That the students get in fights
When they’re at Luther
But it’s just passion
About their God
That makes them want to tackle tricky
Subjects at Luther
The stage crew’s calling
The acts start to prep for their masquerade
There’s no escaping the chapel at this time.
This is variety night!
Now Luther students
They vary greatly in values and age
Some of us Lutheran
Others Methodist or UCC
But we’re all Christians
And called to work together for our triune God
We’re passionate
We won’t let those dissenters keep us down
Evangelize
Cause this is LUTHER!
Luther at night
And even though we’re Christians
We know how to party right
Now this is Luther
Luther at night
Make no mistake about it
We are Luther’s Finest, Luther’s finest, here tonight!
Cause this is LUTHER!
Luther at night
And even though we’re Christians
We know how to party right
Now this is Luther
Luther at night
Make no mistake about it
We are Luther’s Finest
Luther’s finest tonight.
